el Herradero Mexican Grill Delicious Mexican Food in Cabo – November 22, 2016
This blog is from a Facebook memory that recently appeared on my page. When it popped up, it reminded me of how great this meal was and prompted me to write about it.
For Thanksgiving 2016, my family and I went to San Jose del Cabo for the holiday. We stayed at the JW Marriott Los Cabos Beach Resort & Spa (I will write a review on the JW later). Given we were in Mexico, we wanted some authentic Mexican fare but weren’t sure where to go. We asked the concierge for recommendations, and Cruz suggested we try el Herradero Mexican Grill. Cruz called and booked us a reservation, and we were set. When it came time to go to dinner, after a short 15-minute taxi ride, we arrived at el Herradero.
*** One thing to note, if you are staying at the JW Marriott, you can’t take Lyft or Uber from the hotel into town. You can only take a taxi. You can, however, take a Lyft or Uber back on your return. ***
Atmosphere / Ambiance
We arrived and were promptly greeted by extremely friendly staff and an inviting open-air dining area. They directed us to our table, handed us the menus featuring delicious options, and took our drink orders. The waiter brought our drinks (I can’t remember what everyone ordered), and we prepared to order our entrees. The presentation was beautiful when our dinner came out, and the portions were exceptionally large. Thanks to Facebook, our entrees are detailed as follows.
The Food
el Herradero is known for its Molcajete bowls and fresh fish of the day selections. When our dinner came out, it was piping hot, and the Fajitas were sizzling hot and steaming. The Molcajete bowls were also molten hot and steaming.
We had the following entrees for dinner:
- Pollon Hot Stone Dish with Chicken and Shrimp (came out piping HOT!).
- Catch of the day, red snapper seasoned and grilled to perfection, with grilled Camarones (shrimp) and veggies.
- Chicken Fajitas (served on a sizzling skillet).
- Shrimp Fajitas (served on a sizzling skillet).
The Service
The staff at el Herradero is very friendly and attentive. They greeted us with a warm welcome and thanked us for choosing to dine with them. Our waiter recommended getting one of their famous margaritas, to which I was more than willing to oblige. I got the Cadillac margarita with Petron, and it was fantastic. After we got our drinks, our waiter told us they were known for their Molcajete bowls and fresh fish. They were very knowledgeable, and their suggestions were on point.
